Maria’s entrepreneurial roots run deep. Her parents founded Byblos Bakery in Brisbane back in 1974, pioneering pocket bread (or pita bread) in Australia. At just 12, Maria started working in the bakery, gaining invaluable insights into running a family bud up to ssiness. “Byblos operated for 32 years, and I was involved in everything from the grounenior management,” Maria said. “It taught me lessons no book or MBA could ever teach. It was a grounding platform meshed with experience, hard work and real life.” Though the bakery was eventually sold, Maria always knew she’d venture into business herself—it was innate, and simply a matter of finding the right opportunity.
After travelling the world for business ideas, Maria found her “aha” moment close to home. One day, while searching for an old favourite handbag, she discovered it had been damaged due to improper storage. The lightbulb went off—there was a real need for high-quality, natural-fibre storage solutions. That’s when Kazzi Kovers was born—a perfect “preparedness meets opportunity” moment after she had just been made redundant from a sales role. Maria’s passion for educating others about how to care for their treasured belongings runs deep. Her mother, who was always immaculately dressed and took meticulous care of her clothes and accessories, was a huge inspiration. "I inherited my business mind from Dad and my love for how to look after my treasured belongings from Mum," Maria shared warmly. This blend of business acumen and attention to detail is at the heart of Kazzi Kovers, where Maria’s products reflect her belief that your cherished items deserve the best care possible.

She’s not one to rush through development—each new product takes two to three years of research and prototyping before it’s ready to launch. "I love listening to customer feedback and making sure our products are exactly what they need to be," she explained. "Every order is special to me, and when I have the time to pack the orders myself, I put a little extra love into every one."
